The recent road works have given us all a chance to see how the quality of life is improved without speeding traffic so why not take this opportunity to try to avoid there being an accident one day
Barbara North is calling for volunteers for her revival of the Speed Awareness scheme. She has some willing volunteers but would welcome more. Barbara can be seen most days walking round the village with her dogs. She is very concerned about the speeds of some drivers entering and leaving the village.
It’s only an hour a week to volunteer. Full training will be given. Our Parish Clerk has experience of other parishes where the scheme has received a shot in the arm and they now, at the behest of the Police Commissioner, receive monthly reports on the effort expended and the number of vehicles checked and the number who have been written to by the police.
The data from the Sam2 camera has shown that although many drivers obey the limits through the village, about 10% are speeding and we need to try to reach them to encourage them to reduce their speed through our village.
The Rounders match has been moved from Wednesday 9th August to Thursday 10th August because of the existing rain and that forecast for Wednesday.
All other details as noted before - barbecue and games. Bring your own liquid refreshment. Let's hope for a warm, clear evening.

Wednesday 18th January, Village Hall, 7:30pm. Admission £2 includes refreshments. All welcome.
If you are using the Village Hall and hunting for the heater switches, please avoid switching off the defibrillator power. Malcolm Newstead who maintains our defibrillator tells me that not only will the battery be run down but the low temperatures can damage the pads.
I have put a note on the switch to identify it. I am of an age where this is part altruistic and part self-preservation. :-)
If you want something posting let me have the details.
