World War 1 centenary

2/8/2014

Poppies and memorials serve to remind us of the sacrifices made by a past generation but they tell us little about the individuals involved. Now Langham PC have
been given permission to publish research by Rev Tim Fawcett into the family and military history of the men commemorated on the Langham Memorial.

You can read the document HERE. If you can supply relevant photos we will incorporate these.

The PC will investigate the possibility of publishing this as a booklet to form a more permanent record.

Thanks to Cavin Reed for refurbishing the memorial again.

I have several pages about Page Crane (Burnt War Records) about his discharge from war service. I also have a record of his 'War Badge' and certificate. He also had 2 children that were born in Walpole St. Andrew (Henry Page 12 July 1911 & Martha Kathleen 12 May 1913). He lived at Church End West Walton when he signed up for war service. If you would like copies of my info please send me your e-mail address. I was hoping that you would know where his memorial/ grave is. I have all of the cemeteries/ graves of the other soldiers on the W.W. Like you in Langham we also held a WW1 exhibition and a rededication of the War memorial after it had been cleaned.
