Bob Brandt reports on the new position for the Binham Road post box. I was very impressed by the hard work this involved for the two post-office contractors, the elder of whom has been doing this job for 24 years. They arrived in Langham at about 3 pm having already re-sited 5 post-boxes elsewhere in the county and when they left at nearly 6 they still had one more to do, in Stiffkey, before getting home, via Cromer, to Newmarket and Ipswich. The older guy is nearly 65 but intends to work on for another two years!!! All this after a 5 am start for them. Hope the village will be pleased now that the box has been moved to a much safer place. For those who have missed the story so far .... The Parish Council received several complaints about the dangers of cars parking by the box at its old position on the Pound. The Post Office agreed to resite it at the entrance to St Mary's Lane where cars can park in relative safety. |
