Scam alert

26/3/2013

Scam Alert – Email claiming you have a ‘confidential document’ waiting online – 22 March 2013Norfolk Trading Standards are warning about an email circulating claiming that you have a ‘confidential document’ available to you through Google Docs and to access it you need to ‘sign into your Google account’ using a link in the email.

The link in the email doesn't go to Google, it goes to a fake login page and it is phishing email attempting to gather login details which could be used for other fraudulent activities.

Trading Standards advises not to act on or respond to unsolicited emails and if you receive this message delete it.

If you receive an email which you believe to be a scam you can report it to Action Fraud via their online fraud reporting tool or to Citizens Advice consumer helpline via their online reporting form.

For advice on protecting yourself from phishing scams you can watch a short advice film on the Get Safe Online website.
