Where does your Council Tax go

The following breakdown of the spending of each pound of Council Tax raised by North Norfolk District Council is from NNDC.

Parish Council (2p)

Langham parish council activities include provision and servicing of:
  • some street lighting, Those lights on the main roads through the village and on Hollow Lane are LPC responsibility.  The lights on Swans Close, St Mary's and The Cornfield are controlled by NNDC.
  • allotments,
  • the playing field,
and support for
  • Parish Room.

The parish council also have a consultative role in planning and highways.   The planning role was set out well by Steve Oxenham, Head of Planning and Building Control, October 2010 and can be read HERE.  A good document can also be found HERE, it was produced by Harrogate Council but is still applicable to us.

North Norfolk District Council (9p)

NNDC uses the money it raises from Council Tax to provide a range of services including:

Norfolk County Council (76p)

NCC is the local authority for county-wide services, including children's services (including schools), adult social services, highway maintenance, waste disposal, libraries, museums, fire and rescue, economic development and trading standards (source NCC Members Handbook).

Norfolk Police Authority (13p)

The money that is received by Norfolk Police Authority goes towards providing policing across Norfolk.
